Delta Fiscalization System — certified by two national tax authorities
Every invoice had to reach the tax authority correctly and on time, or the business carried compliance and penalty risk. I took the system from inception and prototype through build, testing and launch, connecting SAP business transactions to Zimbabwe's FDMS and Zambia's VSDC smart-invoicing systems.
- Role
- Architect & lead engineer
- Result
- Certified by ZIMRA and ZRA
- Impact
- 90%+ faster transaction processing
- Stack
- SAP S/4HANA, Integration services, FDMS, VSDC
Context
Zimbabwe and Zambia both require businesses to fiscalise invoices through the revenue authority’s systems — FDMS for ZIMRA, VSDC smart invoicing for ZRA. For a multinational billing at Delta’s volume, any gap between what SAP records and what the tax authority receives is a compliance failure, and failures carry financial penalties.
My role
I owned the system end to end: technical feasibility, architecture, prototyping, build, testing and launch, working with finance operations and IT stakeholders throughout.
Approach
- SAP as the source of truth. Business transactions originate in SAP and are carried through the fiscalization integration to FDMS and VSDC.
- Two jurisdictions. The system meets both ZIMRA and ZRA requirements.
- Certification as the acceptance test. The system was built and tested against each authority’s certification process, not just internal sign-off.
Outcome
- Certified by both the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) and the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA).
- Removed a significant regulatory-compliance and financial-penalty risk.
- 90%+ improvement in transaction processing efficiency across finance operations.
